One of the promotional images used to showcase one of the unique monsters in the game.

Taken from the description of the game's Itch.io page:
"Aberrational is a short first-person horror maze game where you must do everything in your power to survive while being stalked by something in the empty halls. The only way to survive is to collect everything needed to unlock the path to safety."
I developed this game as a part of the Acerola 0 game jam in 12 days. Given the theme "Abberation," I decided to lean towards more of a horror perspective after brainstorming specific ideas. I went into more detail, chronicling my experience of developing this game as a part of a YouTube video, so if you want a more technical behind-the-scenes breakdown, you can view it there.
This project stood out to me as I had taken extra care in developing a dynamic AI for the "monster" that would be stalking the player. When designing the monster, I outlined a "peek-a-boo" entity that would stalk and respond if the player looked at it. The dynamic changes between Stalking, Hiding, and Chasing allowed me to apply what I had learned in my previous Boom and Bloom project while having a set deadline to complete the game.
If you wish to play the game, download it through itch.io in the following embed.
